WASHINGTON, DC, Dec. 13, 1998. As we write this article, United States President, William Jefferson Clinton, has just suffered the disgrace of being only the third president in US history to have articles of impeachment voted against him in a committee of the US Congress. The House Judiciary Committee, under the chairmanship of Rep. Henry Hyde, Republican, completed the vote yesterday to refer four articles of impeachment against President Clinton to the full Congress. The vote was split strictly along party lines, with all the Republicans voting for impeachment, and all the Democrats on the committee voting against. The articles of impeachment all stem from President Clinton's efforts to conceal his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a young White House intern, a relationship which Clinton has since admitted was "inappropriate." The articles of impeachment cite perjury, as Clinton's efforts at concealment included statements made in the course of action in the case brought against him by Paula Jones charging sexual harassment.
In the light of these historic developments, we pose a series of questions, concerning the future of Bill Clinton, to Tehuti ("Thoth" to the Greeks), the ancient Kamitic god of wisdom. The Great Oracle of Tehuti has been restored to us by Ra Un Nefer Amen, who in a remarkable series of books (see his Metu Neter, vol. 1: The Great Oracle of Tehuti, and the Egyptian System of Spiritual Cultivation, 1990; also vol. 2: Anuk Ausar: The Kamitic Initiation System, 1994) has restored to the modern world the power and beauty of the ancient African religion of the Nile Valley.
[Note: In the following, the notations within square brackets, for example [2+ UH], represent the actual card readings, Tehuti tu Tchaas, Uatchet Hetep in this example, obtained using the cards of the Great Oracle of Tehuti, which are similar to Tarot. The notation is my own, and somewhat idiosyncratic, but the meaning would be obvious to anyone familiar with the system. The interpretation of the meaning of these cards in the present context is mine, is where the Diviner's art comes in, and may be subject to dispute. I welcome comment, or alternative interpretations from readers familiar with this particular Divination system, or any other, for that matter.]
Q. Comment on Bill Clinton's behavior in relation to Monica Lewinsky:
A. [2+ UH] Tehuti says that Clinton sought initially only to be a mentor to Monica, but that he was seduced by her. In a larger, spiritual sense (see below), the energetic configuration which led to the entire tragic set of circumstances is consistent with the incarnational life lessons that Clinton came to learn in this incarnation.
Q. Comment on Bill Clinton's behavior in his testimony relating to Monica Lewinsky in the Paula Jones matter :
A. [8+ 10H] Tehuti says that his behavior has been clever, and his cleverness has been driven by his strong emotions in the matter. Implicitly, I believe Tehuti to be saying that Clinton was unwise.
Q. Was the House Judiciary Committee right to vote to impeach Bill Clinton?
A. [5- 6++] Tehuti says that in the polarity between vengeance and justice, in this case, the balance tipped to the side of vengeance, or better, there was an excess of zeal in voting to impeach... despite the undeniable efforts of the one in authority (the chair) to remain resolutely fair in the matter.
Q. Would the full House also vote to impeach?
A. [ 2+ 2--] Tehuti says, confusion. There will be good judgment, and bad judgement. On balance, the answer I believe is yes, the house would vote to impach also.
Q. Will Bill Clinton serve out his full term in office?
A. [4H] Tehuti says, the energetics surrounding the matter are governed exclusively by the principles of Maat, namely truth, harmony, balance, justice, love, generosity, giving seeking nothing in return, good fortune, etc.; or the lack. On balance, the answer I believe is that the answer is in Bill Clinton's hands. If he detaches himself from the lower passions and emotions that now guide his actions in addressing this issue, and identifies instead with Higher Authority, and acts accordingly, it is possible that he could serve out his tern. If he stonewalls the matter, he could well be convicted in an impeachment proceeding, or be persuaded to resign to avoid the humiliation of such a proceeding.
Q. Should Bill Clinton resign as President?
A. [11H] Tehuti says it's a question purely of his legacy, his place in history. Tehuti has punted with this question, but it makes sense. If he is forced to resign, as for example to avoid a humiliating trial and possible conviction in the Senate, that would define his legacy. If he resigns now, immediately after the Committee's vote to impeach, but before the full house debates the matter, his legacy would again be defined by the act of resignation. But it would depend on the manner of his resigning what exactly would be that legacy. If he goes down denying what is clearly undeniable, he would not only lose in the mundane world, but in the spiritual world, and would have attained no spiritual redemption in the process. If he comes clean, and resigns, it would be the best thing for him spiritually, and it would be his best chance for safeguarding his legacy also. There is great redemptive value in doing the right thing, period, damn the consequences. It is why today Muhammad Ali is as revered as he is. The latter went to jail on a principle, and was prepared to give up all the monetary rewards of his only profession in order to do so. All must admire such courage. If Bill Clinton would do the same, it could define a legacy similar to that which Muhammad Ali has already left: the redemptive value of simply doing the right thing, damn the worldly consequences! The gods know well that mundane triumph and defeat both are but impostors. For both are fleeting, while the immortal soul lives forever.
Q. What are the most important spiritual lessons that Bill Clinton came to this incarnation to learn and master?
A.[6++ 5++] Tehuti says that Bill Clinton came here to learn the lessons and principles of leadership, and the lessons and principles of justice. Core to the leadership question is the development of the will, which means developing the ability for right action and right thought, free of emotional and sensual pulls. This is clearly critical for he who would be king, or president. Throughout his life, Bill Clinton would have energetic pulls and tugs that would test and temper, both, his ability to act right as a matter of will, ignoring or overcoming temptations to act otherwise emerging from the emotional and sensual part of his being. The other principle that governs Clinton's incarnation objective is the principle, broadly, of justice, in its enforcement aspect, that of restoring things to order. These spiritual energetics govern law enforcement, ie. police and military action, also vengeance. It also governs the capacity for zealous action, and is the energy of the warrior, the athlete, the entrepreneur, and dominant, take-charge personality types. Those with this energy as part of their incarnational makeup will be tested again and again with issues that go to the justice/vengeance continuum. He will be wronged, and this part of his energy makeup will cause him to see red, and to want to inflict vengeance in return. Or he will do wrong, and the energetics of his existence will conspire to have him face someone else's seeking to wreak vengeance, and/or bring him to justice. Spiritually, the lesson for Bill Clinton, and others blessed/cursed with the fiery energetics of justice/vengeance, is to learn the correct place and use of that fire, to deploy it always in the service of the principles of Maat, namely the restoration to truth, harmony, balance, generosity, sharing, giving without seeking anything in return, and faith. I think the spiritual test for Bill Clinton in this whole tragic matter is the test of faith, that by doing the right thing without fear of worldly consequences will for sure lead to spiritual transcendence -- ie. successfully fulfilling the raison d'etre of his present incarnation -- and may even be rewarded in worldly terms also.
Q. What is the condition of Bill Clinton's spiritual health?
A. [3- 0++] Tehuti says that Clinton's present state of spiritual health is characterised (a) by lack of spiritual power, and lack of concentration, and (b) by the need to persevere in living the principles that would bring unshakeable inner peace, namely detaching himself from sensual and emotional conditionings.
Q. What are the most important healing principles to which he should adhere in attempting to improve his spiritual health at the present time?
A. [9H] Tehuti says that Clinton needs to practice meditation, to get in touch with his core, his soul, to remember what was the spiritual assignment he brought to this incarnation, and to act accordingly.
