Ajax keep alive PSL dream

Ajax Cape Town football club came from behind to defeat Tshakhuma Tsha Madzibvandila (TTM) 5-1 on Tuesday in the premier soccer league (PSL) promotion playoffs.

Going into the match, TTM had 3 points after losing their two previous games in the playoffs and an 11th-minute goal from Nevhulamba gave them hope of getting better results as they led until half time.

In the second half, Ajax came hard on their opponents as they equalised just after 3 minutes of play in the second half through Mkhize and the Cape Town based side was in front by 3 goals to 1 just after 7 minutes of the last half when Rodgers scored a brace.

As if the goals were not enough to give Ajax maximum points, Butsaka registered his name on the score sheet on the hour mark before Rodgers completed his hat-trick five minutes later after he scored from the penalty spot to seal a 5-1 win over TTM.

The spot in the 2020/21 PSL season has been left wide open following the win by Ajax Cape Town as they go level on 6 points with Black Leopards but Ajax has played a game more.

Ajax Cape Town will play Black Leopards on Friday 18 September in a match likely to decide who will play in the PSL next season before the final fixture of the playoffs between Black Leopards and TTM on Monday.
