Azam Football Club head coach, Arstica Cioaba suggested to the board that he only wants to sign three more new players for the next season 2020/21 campaign.
Among other players that coach Arstica Cioaba wants to have for the next season is former Yanga Sports Club striker, Obrey Chirwa who already extended his contract with Azam Football Club. Chirwa will stay for an extra year and a half at the defending champions of Mapinduzi Cup, Azam Football Club.
Azam Football Club director, Abdulkarim Amin ‘Popat’ says the only reason they extended Chirwa’s contract is that the manager wants to keep him for the next Vodacom Premier League season.
“We need to make our squad strong and competitive, as well as keeping up with our philosophy, so when it comes to adding new players, we are going to sign few players with the best quality. As the coach suggested we might sign only three players and if it is above that, it’s not going to be above seven players.”
Abdulkarim Amin says they will sign based on the coach’s recommendation because he is the one who knows what kind of players the club wants to have.
