Lilongwe based Silver Strikers football club has started training at the Silver stadium in small groups ahead of the 2020 season proposed to start in August.
The central bankers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thokozani Chimbali said the players have decided to start light training on their own to maintain their fitness levels and are doing it in small groups of not more than 10 players.
“As Silver Strikers we did not tell our boys to start training but they have decided that by themselves as other team’s players are also doing to maintain their fitness levels and we advised them not to be more than seven players when doing the training.
“On the other hand, when we start normal training we pick our players by bus in their locations but this time they are coming on their own”, he said.
President Professor Arthur Peter Muthalika declared the nation a state of disaster in March 2020 due to the spreading of coronavirus which led to the suspension of the 2020 football season and all other sporting activities in the country including all groupings of more than 100 people.
