Barca, Sevilla start season with wins

Four first-half goals were enough to give Barcelona a win against Villarreal in their first match of the 2020/21 Spanish La Liga season as they look to snatch the title from their greatest rivals Real Madrid.

Fati led Villarreal scored a brace in a space of 4 minutes in the first 19 minutes before captain Lionel Messi made it 3 from the penalty after Fati was brought down in the box.

The gods kept smiling for Barcelona as they got their fourth goal when Torres misjudged a Messi cross which was aimed at Busquets when he kicked the ball into his net.

The second half produced no goals from both sides but that was not a cause for worry for Barcelona which already did a good job in the first half to win the match.

In another match, Sevilla recovered from their 2-1 UEFA super cup loss against the Germany giants Bayern Munich when they started the la Liga season with a 3-1 win over Cadiz.

Cadiz was in front by 2 minutes into the second half when Salvi scored before Sevilla waked up from their sleep in the 65th minute to equalise through De Jong.

On the last minute of the game, Sevilla was in front through Munir which broke the hearts of Cadiz which thought of collecting a point before Rakitic registered his name on the score sheet in added minutes.

At the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, Suarez gave his 20 minutes debut for his new club Atletico Madrid when he scored a brace in this sides 6-1 win over Granada.

Diego Costa carried hopes for the Madrid side in the first half when his goal separated men from boys by half time before goals flooded in the second half from Correa, Felix and Llorente.
