CAF set for stadium inspection

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will soon be in the country to inspect stadiums ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and world cup qualifiers.

The country has been using the Kamuzu stadium, Bingu stadium and the Civo stadium for international games but this time around FAM has removed on the list the Civo stadium and included the Mpira stadium.

FAM club licensing and compliance manager Casper Jangale has said the team will be in the country before the Burkina Faso game and the Mpira stadium has been included because of its nature.

“The inspection was due to take place in February this year but this never happened because of the coronavirus pandemic and with the fixtures for the African cup of nations qualifiers out they have informed us to do the inspection soon.

“We have added Mpira stadium as per the recommendation from CAF that the stadiums should now have standard seats as those at the facility and Civo stadium has to be taken off from the list of stadiums the officials will inspect,” said Jangale.
