English Premier League (EPL) teams continue to fight for a spot for next year’s champions league with some teams dropping vital points leaving the competition wide open.
On Tuesday 30th June, Manchester United were 3-0 winners over Brighton, thanks to a brace from Bruno Fernandes with the other goal scored by Mason Greenwood in a match Nigerian striker Odio Ighaloh was introduced in the second half with the damage already done to the home side. The three points were vital for Manchester United as they fight to secure a top-four finish as they now have 52 points from 32 games and are now on position 5.
On Wednesday 1st July, Arsenal returned to winning ways in an emphatic fashion when they defeated Norwich City 4- 0. Arsenal captain and Gabonese International Piere Emerick Aubameyang netted a brace to take his arsenal goals account to 50. Xhaka and Cedric scored the other goals for the gunners to have 47 points from 32 games 6 points behind sixth-placed Wolves.
The same night saw West Ham United defeat Chelsea 3-2 in a dramatic style at the London stadium. Willian scored a brace for Chelsea before goals from Soucek and Antonio levelled matters. It took an 89th-minute goal from Yarmolenko to deny Chelsea three points. The blues are on 4th position with 54 points from 32 games.
Bottom half Everton saw the better of Leicester City when they won 2-1 at Goodson park. Richarlison and Sigurdsson were on target for Everton before Nigerian striker Nkelechi Iheanacho scored the consolation for Leicester City. Leicester City is in the third position with 55 points from 32 points.
Newcastle united registered their biggest win of the season so far when they won 4-1 away to Bournemouth. Gayle, Longstaff, Almiron and Lazaro were all on the score sheet for the visitors before Gosling scored the consolation for the home side in added time.
