Alufeyo Chipanga has come into the open that he will contest for the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) presidency as the country’s FA will be holding elections this December.
Chipanga who is the current chairperson for TNM Super League side Karonga United said he is confident he will make it as his manifesto has outlined ways to improve football in the country and has already started talking to affiliates for nominations.
“I have decided to contest for the FAM presidency this December and I have to start talking to affiliates in all the zones for a nomination .
“My manifesto has outlined ways that will improve the game of football in the country but it’s not that the incumbent president has failed but he has done his part and that we take over from him and implement new ideas to the run of football in the country “, said Chipanga.
Chipanga added that he is confident enough to via for the position as he has been able to improve the game of football at regional level in the northern region and it’s high time the nation benefit from him as well.
“I am serious enough to via for the post as I have done a lot in terms of football administration in the northern region and I want to help the county in terms of football administration and I feel I will deliver to the nation,”
“My manifesto outlines that all regional leagues should have a sponsorship of not less than k100 million, the Super League sponsoring not to be less than k500 million and that both the women’s football and beach soccer should both have regional leagues,”
“People should trust me as I fulfill what I promise and people from the northern region know that better as I managed Kapolo Football Club and next was Karonga United which is in the Super League now and players from these club can bare testimony “, Chipanga said.
FAM holds elections after every five years and Walter Nyamilandu manda is the incumbent president for the football governing body in Malawi.
