Karonga United football club chairman Alufeyo Chipanga Banda has admitted it’s not easy for a club to keep quality and talented players without money.
Chipanga made the remarks upon his teams wish to keep all the players they had in the 2018 season but is afraid of losing some players to big clubs. The team already lost midfielder Azizi Mwakifuna to Nyasa Big Bullets football club during the second round of the 2018 TNM super league.
“We want to keep all the players we used in the 2018 season but that’s not easy because some big clubs who promise the boys a lot of money might come in and approach them,” Chipanga said.
Chipanga also said people should expect a more changed Karonga united next season as they have learnt a lot in the years they have played in the super league.
“If we will manage to keep all the players we had in the 2018 season and and a few number of players then people should expect a more changed Karonga united as the players are coordinating well and have confidence in themselves having played together for two years in the top flight league”, he said.
In 2018, Karonga united played in the Airtel top 8 for the first time where they managed to reach the finals only to lose to Silver Strikers football club. The team also finished on position 11 in the super league.
