Sponsors of the central region football association (crfa) league, Chipiku stores limited has increased sponsorship with k1 million from k13.5 million to k14.5 million for the 2020 season.
Making the announcement at a prize presentation ceremony for the league’s best performers of 2019 at Salima town hall, one of the company’s official Mr Patel said the company is committed to helping in football development in the country hence the increase in sponsorship.
“It has been a good journey for us in 2019 and as sponsors we are very satisfied with the manner the league was run last year. For that reason, we thought of increasing sponsorship with one million kwacha so that the league continues to identity talent”, said Patel.
Speaking after the announcement, crfa vice general secretary Antonio Manda thanked Chipiku stores for the good gesture and promised to use the money effective for the smooth run of the league.
“We are thankful for the increase in sponsorship as that will help us to cater for other things which we failed to do last year but with the nature of our league, the money is still not enough that as crfa we need to find other ways of sourcing money and not just relying on the sponsors”, Manda said.
Manda also said the 2020 season for the regional league will kick off on 21 March following the calendar of football association of Malawi (FAM) and teams that want to play in both the premier and division one of the league should start registering on 28 February.
Chipiku stores limited started sponsoring the central region football association league in 2005.
