Northern region TNM super league side Chitipa United football club can afford a smile after a successful launch of the selling of the club’s replica jerseys which took place at the clubs base in Chitipa on Saturday.
At a function which was attended by minister of youth and sports honourable Ulemu Msungama, the club sold a number of replica jerseys at a good price including one which was bought by the ministry at K500,000.
Other notable people such as Alunibwira Msongole and FAM executive member Othaniel Hara bought the replica at K250,000 while Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president, Super League of Malawi (SULOM) president Tiya Somba Banda and Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) chairman Dr Zetu Khonje taking the jersey at K100,000.
According to Chitipa United general secretary Duma Ng’oma, the launch of the selling of the club’s replica jerseys has received a warm welcome and they expect the team’s supporters to buy the jersey.
“We have received support from a number of people who have bought the jerseys and we have made money which is to help in running the club. We also expect our supporters to buy the replica jerseys which are going at K20,000 each,” he said.
Reports indicate that the club managed to raise close to K2 million at the launch of the selling of replica jerseys.
