Blue Eagles football club defeated Silver Strikers football club 4-0, reaching the score to play at FISD cup finals.
In the first semi-final match played at Civo stadium, Blue Eagles started the match on a high note as Wonder Jeremani scored a goal in the 2nd minute. The early goal disturbed Silver Strikers game plan.
In the 30th minute, Gilbert Chirwa fired a powerful shot. They were in the lead by 2 scores before the break.
In the second half, Blue Eagles continued with their attacking game. John Malidadi Jnr shot the third goal after a sloppy central bankers defence. In the 81st minute, Schumacher Kuwali after beating two Silver defenders including Brighton Munthali shot the 4th score into an empty net.
Three minutes before the match ended, Khuda Muyaba was shown a red card. This was after a rough challenge with Jacob Robert. This erupted violence from Silver Strikers supporters forcing referee Mayamiko Kanjere to end the match.
Speaking after the game, Blue Eagles assistant coach Wilson Chidati was happy to be in the finals.
Chidati said, “It was a good game considering that we managed to score four goals which have taken them us the finals, and credit should go to the boys for playing according to instructions.
On the other hand, coach for Silver Strikers Abasi Makawa said it was a bad day in office.
“It was a bad day as the boys didn’t play the way we expected and we gave Eagles easy goals but it’s part of the game we admit we have lost”, Makawa said.
Blue Eagles who won the Airtel top 8 in 2018, will play against the winner of the second semi-final.
The second semi-final is between Hangover United and Kamuzu Barracks football club on Sunday at Mpira stadium.
