Blue Eagles football club players will share K12 million among themselves for winning this year FISD challenge cup.
The police headquarters side defeated Kamuzu Barracks football club 4-2 on penalties to go home with the trophy and K20 million kwacha.
In an interview, Blue Eagles football club chairman Alexander Ngwala said they are happy with the job the boys did and they deserve their reward.
“We are proud of the boys for the good job they did by winning the cup this year. At least we have something to show this year that’s why we have to give them 60% of the prize money that they share among themselves”, Ngwala said.
Ngwala also said the excitement will go as far as January when the team will showcase the trophy.
“The inspector general of police has given us the go-ahead to showcase the trophy in Lilongwe on 4th January next year to show our supporters what we have won and we will also use that time to spread messages against crime as we a police side”, he said.
This is the second trophy to be won by Blue Eagles in two consecutive years as they won the Airtel Top 8 cup in 2018.
