Ekwendeni Hammers has earned themselves a place to play in the TNM super league next year after being champions of the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Simama and Sons (SIMSO) premier division.
Hammers had a stiff competition from Baka city football club but hammers managed to collect 75 points to fill the gap left by Masters Security, Dwangwa United and Mlatho Mponela football clubs which have all been relegated.
One of the sponsors for Ekwendeni Hammers Mabuchi Mkandawire said it feels good as they will play in the top flight league and were ready for it.
“It feels good that we will play in the super league next year and as Ekwendeni Hammers we knew that playing in the SIMSO league we should be ready for super league action and for that reason we already planned for it knowing it will involve travelling and accommodation where ever we go”, Mkandawire said.
Mkandawire also said the door is open to those who want to help the team with a little something ahead of it’s super league journey.
“We have approximately set a budget of k60 million kwacha to take us through our journey in the super league and that’s a lot of money. For that reason the door is open to everyone who would want to help the team in any way”, he said.
With Ekwendeni Hammers promoted to the elite league, the northern region will for the first time be represented by five teams including Moyale Barracks, Savenda Chitipa United, Karonga United and Mzuni football clubs.
Hammers promotion has also completed a set of team to play in the super league next season with Red Lions and MAFCO football teams crowned champions of the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) and Central Region Football Association (CRFA) leagues respectively.
