A Mlangarini resident in Arusha region Long’ida Maeda has been killed by an elephant when he tried to take a picture of it.
The elephant entered the residents’ areas and the young man decided to capture it by using his phone.
The boy’s friend Mr Mbonea who was with him during the incident revealed that the victim told him that he was a professional photographer so he could take a photo and make sales out of the picture.
“We advised him not to go near the wild animal but he argued that he was professional and skilled so we left him there,” he noted.
The Arusha district commissioner passed his condolences to the family and cautioned people to avoid getting near to the wild animals because they are dangerous.
The residents of the scene enjoyed the flesh after the animal was slaughtered by the wild rangers.
