End of the road for Liverpool in champions league as PSG overturn tables


Liverpool football club has been shown the exit in this years EUFA champions league after they failed to fight back from their 1-0 first leg defeat in the hands of Spanish side Atletico Madrid and failed to defend the European showpiece they won last season.

With the second leg at Anfield, the Red had hope of overturning the tables having done the same during last year’s competition against Barcelona but the Madrid based side had other thoughts as they managed a 3-2 win in England.

Liverpool started the game in fine form as they managed to score a goal through G.Wijnaldum just before the break and hoped for a come back which never came. This was meant to be and for the reds to force the game to extra time after a 1-1 score line at the end of the two leg tie.

In Extra time, Liverpool scored in the 94th minute through Roberto Firmino to cushion their hopes of progressing in the champions league but M. Llorente scored a brace in quick succession before Alvaro Morata scored Atletico’s third on the night to win the match 3-2 and 4-2 on aggregate.

In another championship league match on Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) took home ground advantage and defeated the German side Borussia Dortmund 2-0 having lost the first leg 2-1.
The french league one champions, PSG scored two first half goals through Neymar and J.Bernat to seal a 3-2 win on aggregate and go through to the quarter finals of the European champions league this year.
