Malawi national football team defender Charles Petro can afford a smile having signed a three years deal with a European club Sheriff FC of Moldova.
The European club made the announcement on Thursday, 13 February 2020 through it’s website that the versatile youngster impressed them during his one month long trial and will be traveling with the club to Russia today (Friday, 14 February 2020) for pre-season training ahead of the Moldova super league.
“FC Sheriff welcome Petro Charles Malawi defender, Peter Charles has become the new player of FC Sheriff, the club’s leadership and the player came to an agreement and signed a cooperation agreement,” part of the statement reads.
Speaking in an interview, Petro who has grown within the lacks of Nyasa Big Bullets within a space of two years having been promoted from the club’s reserve side in 2018 and his brilliance in defence earned him national team call up was happy to have passed the trials.
“I am happy that I have passed the trials. It has taken God’s grace to see myself in Europe coming from Nyasa Big Bullets reserve and then graduated to the senior team in a year I also earned national team call up. I will work hard here as I represent my nation,” said Petro.
Charles Petro is third player to be playing in Europe with former Be Forward Wanderers midfielder Francisco Madinga in Georgia and Yamikani Chester playing in America.
