Friday, 18 September, Tanzanian high court has sentenced five suspects for the death penalty due to accusations of the killing of the former member of the Constitutional Change Commission Dr Sengondo Mvungi.

The judgement comes after seven years since the petitioning of the case to the high court. The suspects are Paulo Mdondono, John Mayunga, Msigwa Matonyaz, Longishu Losingo, and Mianda Saluwa.

Juma Kang’ungu was set free since the allegation against him lacked valid evidence for him to be accused.

However, the judgement was made by judge Seif Kulita as the accused side was represented by lawyers Veronica Mtafya, Credo Rugaju, Lilian Lwetabura.
