The Malawi national football team has switched it’s attention to the plate section of the 2019 COSAFA tournament after losing to Zambia on Sunday in the quarter finals.
Flames interim coach Meke Mwase says they team should make amends to the nation by doing well in the plate section and they have talked to the boys to put what happened against Zambia on Sunday behind their back and focus on the fourth coming game.
“The team has been playing good football at the tournament and we even fought hard against Zambia on Sunday only for us to concede a goal in the last minutes of the game but that’s part of the game of football.
“That’s one area we have talked to the boys that we had a our focus much to do better in the cosafa cup but now that it has happened this way and we are in the plate section of the tournament we have told the boys to switch their focus to that and we have been learning in each and every game and I hope as we will be facing Comoros we will be a changed side “, he said.
Mwase further said that he is impressed with how the team has performed at the tournament and the future of the team looks bright.
“We are heart broken as the technical panel as the nation is and let me make it a point here that am impressed with how the boys have played at the tournament as they showed good levels of fighting spirit and the future of the flames looks bright with these boys,” Mwase said.
Malawi also played in the plate section of the 2015 COSAFA tournament and managed to win the plate after defeating Zambia.
