A dark cloud has fallen on the football fraternity in the country with the death of former football association of Malawi ( FAM) 2nd vice president Steven Msambira who died on Wednesday 22nd April 2020 at the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) after a short illness.
Msambira was well known in the football circles in the country for his great contribution to the development of the sport and served as FAM 2nd vice president in 2004 during the first term of office for the incumbent FA president Walter Nyamilandu Manda. Msambira also worked as chairman for the central region football association league and upon his demise was a member of the board of directors for silver strikers company limited.
FAM president Walter Nyamilandu who worked with Msambira has described the death of his former 2nd vice president as a big loss to the country as far as football is concerned.
“His death is a very big loss to the country as he was a very humble and hard working gentleman who contributed a lot to the enormous development of football in the country. He was the first person to serve as second vice president in my committee during my first term of office as FAM president in 2004 and I learnt a lot from him about FAM and football in general,” he said.
Steven Msambira was born on 08 August, 1966 and will be raid to rest at his home village in Mitundu, Lilongwe today, Thursday 23rd April 2020.
