The Minister for Education in Tanzania Prof. Joyce Ndalichako has today, 22 May, in Dar es Salaam announced that the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (form six) exams will kick off on June 29 this year.
“The form six examinations will commence from June 29 to July 16. Those exams will be taken parallel with those completing their studies in national teachers’ colleges,” she said.
This follows yesterday’s directives from the president that college students and form six students should resume studies on June 1. The candidates would have attempted their exams as from May 2, 2020, but due to COVID-19, the schools were suspended on March 17, 2020.
The minister has urged the teachers fro irrespective schools to get prepared and avail the necessary requirements for the students as the report from May 31 to the boarding students so as studies kick off exactly on June 1.
Prof. Ndalichako urged the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) to release an examination timetable for those candidates in time.
Speaking on the same, the Professor advised Universities to rearrange their timetables considering the compensation of the time that was lost in the last two and half months so as the system will enable students to catch up with more facilitated time to study.
“By May 27, all universities should submit their study schedules to Tanzania Commission of Universities (TCU) and National Council of Tanzania Examinations (NACTE), regarding compensation of the time lost during the suspension period of studies in the country.
