A battle of brothers has emerged as two former Silver Strikers football club general secretaries, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda and Innocent Kadammanja are in contention for the position of legal advisor at the Super League of Malawi (SULOM).
SULOM has been without a legal advisor since December last year when Muhammad Seleman who was the association’s legal advisor was voted as Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee member which made sulom vice president major general Gilbert Mitawa to double as legal advisor.
Speaking in an interview Nyirenda has confirmed he will contest for the post at the elections sulom will hold later this month and has edged clubs playing in the top flight league to vote for him.
“I have already talked to clubs that play in the TNM super league to vote for me as am the best candidate for the post having been general secretary for Silver Strikers for a long time which gave me experience to know the kind of challenges teams face and what they want. I have also been a professional lawyer for a long time and once I was a legal advisor for the central bankers giving me a better chance to help sulom”, said Nyirenda.
In the other hand, Nyirenda’s opponent Innocent Kadammanja said
“I have interest in the post and it will be tough competing against my former workmate at Silver Strikers but am convincing clubs to vote for me”.
