G4S Security guards who stole NBC’s sh2.8 billion trapped in Dar es Salaam


The Tanzania police are holding four security guards from Group four Services (G4S) Security Company for allegedly suspected to steal sh.2.88 billion from NBC Bank Plc on February 7, 2020.

Addressing the press conference on 25 February, Dar es Salaam Regional Police Commander Mr Lazaro Mambosasa said that the four officers collected the amount from NBC Kariakoo and Samora branches on the mentioned date.

They were supposed to take the money to NBC headquarters in the city centre but instead, according to Mambosasa, the suspects took the cash to Temeke Maduka Mawili, where they offloaded to a saloon car.
Furthermore, the money was in various currencies, including sh 1.28 billion, $402, 000 and Euro27, 700.

The suspects were named as Christopher Cleophase Rugemalira (34) a resident of Chanika Mohamedi Athumani Ramadhani (40) a resident of mtoni Kijichi Ibrahimu Ramadhani Maunga (49), a resident of Kiluvya and finally Salimu Shamte (45) a Mbagala Kizuiani.
There are still other 9 officers who violated the process of conducting the investigation and Mambosasa said to be holding them in custody as well.

“We don’t bother who you are, if you have violated the terms and conditions governing us, you must face the law,” Mambosasa noted.

A special investigation team formed by Police, arrested Rugemalira on February 17, at Mongo la Ndege area and found with sh11 million and $19, 000, purchased five cars, two luxury houses worth sh297.11 million.

Mr Mohamed Ramadhani and Salimu Shamte were arrested in Mbagala and found with sh332 million and Euro55, 010 and Toyota IST. The last suspect, Ibrahim Ramadhani Maunga was arrested on February 24, 2020, and found with properties worth sh253 million that included cars and plots.
