The Deputy Minister of Industries and Business Carlos Kingsley resigned yesterday after being caught violating coronavirus quarantine rules some days after he had tested positive for coronavirus.
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo said the Deputy Minister deliberately joined a gathering despite testing positive for the disease, hence risking lives of other individuals.
The Minister visited his constituency’s office to register himself as a voter when he was supposed to remain in quarantine facilities as a measure to contain the spread of the disease.
Last week, the country’s Minister for Health Kwaku Manu tested positive for COVID-19. Ghana is among the most coronavirus hit African countries.
It has so far recorded 20,085 cases, 122 deaths and 14,870 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
