Giants await each other in champions league

The draw for the prestigious European club championship has paired top clubs to face each other in the quarter-finals if they pass through the round of 16 of the 2019/20 season.

With the round of 16 matches set to resume on 7 and 8 August 2020 to finish the second leg matches, four teams will fight to book themselves a place in the quarter-finals after UEFA nullified the results obtained from the first leg matches before the suspension of football due to coronavirus giving an advantage to the 8 teams still in the round of 16.

The outgoing EPL champions, Manchester City will welcome Spanish giants Real Madrid with the winner to meet the winner between Italian giants Juventus or French side Lyon who will face each other in the other round of 16 ties.

In another round of 16-second leg matches, Barcelona will welcome Italian side Napoli with the expected winner to face the resilience of either Bayern Munich football club which has won the 2019/20 Bundesliga in Germany or Chelsea from England.

The quarter-finals of the champions league are expected to be played from 12 to 15 August with Rb Leipzig, Atalanta PSG and Atletico Madrid already through to the last 8 of the competition.

The semi-finals will be played two days after the last quarter-finals match and the finals will be staged on 23 August in Portugal, a crown Liverpool failed to defend this year after winning it during the 2018/19 season.
