Hard luck for Manchester United as Leicester stands in their way


Despite their good run of form, Manchester United is finding it difficult to break through into the top four of the English Premier League (EPL) as those teams they are fighting for position with are also winning their games.

On Thursday, Manchester United were 2-0 winners against Crystal Palace at the Selhust Park to keep themselves in contention for a top four finish. Macus Rashford had put the visitors in front just before half time before Antonial Martial made it two for United in the 78th minute to return to Old Trafford with three points.

United are still on 5th position with 62 points the same as Leicester City which is on fourth position with a better goal difference.

At the Kingpower stadium, Leicester City were 2-0 winners over Sheffield united for them to cement their spot on 4th position. Perez put the home side in the lead just before the half hour mark before Gray made it 2 for the foxes in the 79th minute which took the visitors out of the game.

Sheffield united is on 8th position after managing to collect 54 points.

The same night saw Southampton which frustrated Manchester United in their previous match share points with Brighton after it ended 1-1 at St Mary’s stadium. The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute through Maupay, which they defended until the break.

In the second half, the saints strike back through Ings in the 66 minute for the two sides to share the spoils.

Aston Villa failed to boost their survival chances when they let in a late equaliser from Everton at the Goodson park. Aston Villa were first to score through Konsa in the 72nd minute before Theo Walcott equalised in the 87th minute to the frustration of Aston Villa which remains second from bottom of the log table with 31 points.
