Nyasa Big Bullets were held to a goalless draw against Platinum football club in the first leg of the Confederation of African (CAF) champions league at the Kamuzu stadium.
The people’s team were a better side from the start as the combination of Chimango Kayira, Mike Mkwate and Peter Banda was too good for the visitors.
30 minutes into the game, the visitors settles into the game and pressurised the TNM super league defending champions.
In the second half the visitors leveled their game and attacked Bullets from all angles. The home side substituted Hassan Kajoke and Mike Mkwate for Patrick Phiri and Bright Munthali who saw his shot hot the cross bar with 3 minutes to full time.
After the match Bullets assistant coach Peter Mponda said
“It’s a bad result for us but we are satisfied with the way the boys played. They have an experienced side and we expect a free flowing game in Zimbabwe”.
In a related development, an Ivan Bogere hat trick was enough for Ugandan side Proline football club to defeat Masters Security 3-0 in the CAF Confederations cup.
The two teams will play their return matches on 24th August with Bullets going to Zimbabwe while Masters will host Proline in Lilongwe.
