The closure of the Morogoro Road at Jaingwani due to floods has disrupted transport in Dar es Salaam.
There was chaos as the heavy rains flooded many roads and houses in the city.
People were forced to take alternative routes to access Mandela Road as Chama, Mwananchi and Bonde la Micha bridges were flooded.
Some crafty people took advantage of the situation to make easy money by charging as much as Sh 1000 to carry people on their back across the flooded bridges.
The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) had earlier warned of pending heavy rains in Dar es Salaam, Rukwa, Mbeya, Songwe, Iringa, Njimbe, Mtwara and Ruvuma.
The rains have also adversely affected economic activities in all the affected cities and towns.
People in Dar es Salaam were seen carrying their goods along with shoes on their heads with trousers pulled up to knee level as they crossed the flooded streets and bridges.
