Tanzania’s meteorological authorities have warned the public to brace for heavy rains in the next four days in several regions around the country.
In a statement, the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) said should be warned to take extra precautions as heavy rains will pound areas including Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Morogoro, Singida, Dodoma, Lindi, Mtwara, Rukwa and Mbeya.
In addition, the heavy rains would also affect other areas notably Ruvuma, Sungwe, Iringa, Njambe and the islands of Unguja and Pemba in Zanzibar.
TMA said the named areas might suffer from”heavy floods, delays in transportation and disruption of social and economic activities.”
The rains would continue until next Tuesday when they are expected to ebb.
Last Tuesday, heavy rains pounded Dar es Salaam forcing several roads to be closed by the city authorities as business and other activities had ground to a halt.
