Football Association of Malawi has announced that World football governing body FIFA president Gianni Infantino will visit Malawi on Wednesday 27th November 2019.
Infantino who is touring Africa, aside from other duties is expected to inspect all FIFA funded projects.
In an interview, FAM Chief Executive Officer Alfred Gunda said Infantino’s coming to the country is of great importance.
Gunda said Gianni Infantino’s visit will be a chance for them to convince him to give them more funds since they have a lot of plans to develop football. He was sure that Gianni will be convinced because of how they used the FIFA funds to build the infrastructure at Mpira village we feel he will be convinced.
Gunda further said FAM will share more details about his visit in due course.
Gianni Infantino’s visit to Malawi will come two weeks before FAM’s 14 December elections.
This will be the second time for a FIFA president to visit Malawi after Sepp Blatter visited the country in 2002.
