Malawi women’s national football team coach McNerbert Kadzuwa says he is impressed with how the team has started it’s preparations ahead of the 2020 council of southern Africa football association (COSAFA) women’s championship which will be played from 3-14 November in South Africa.
The scorchers resumed training on Thursday with 31 locally based players reporting at the Mpira village and the Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa who play in the Chinese women’s super league expected to join the squad next week.
According to Kadzuwa, he is happy with how the girls have responded on the first day of training and the team looks geared up ahead of the regional tournament.
“The morale in the camp is high ahead of the COSAFA tournament and the team has responded well to all the training programs but the girls lack match fitness as they have stayed for a long time without playing football and we should work on that before we leave for the tournament,” he said.
