Kamuzu Barracks football club defeated Hangover United 4-1 in the second semi-final of this year’s FISD challenge.
The match was played at the Mpira stadium on Sunday. The Malawi Defence Force side took an early lead in the 10th minute through Francisco Kamdzeka. Nation Harazi doubled the lead seven minutes later after poor communication between Hangover United defenders and the goalkeeper.
KB dominated the game in midfield through Chikoti Chirwa.
Seven minutes before the break Harvey Mkacha had put the game beyond Hangover’s reach as he netted the fourth goal with a fine finish before Brighton Gomani scored Hangover’s consolation a minute later.
In the Second half, the 2015 TNM super league champions jealously defended the goals despite Hangover United playing brilliantly but it was too late in the game.
Speaking after the game, Kamuzu Barracks football club coach Temwa Msuku was happy for the win.
“Am happy we have won the match and I thank the boys for playing according to plan but we admit Hangover gave us a good game”, he said.
Hangover United’s coach, McDonald Yobe said his boys gave away the match.
“We didn’t play well as the boys gave KB easy goals due to lack of communication between our defenders and the goalkeeper. In the second half, we tried to come back into the game but the damage was already done”, Yobe said.
Kamuzu Barracks football club will play Blue Eagles football club in the finals of the FISD challenge cup. The Blue Eagles won 4-0 against Silver Strikers football club in the first semi-final match on Saturday.
