Veteran midfielder Chimango Kayira was voted as the most outstanding player for Nyasa Big Bullets football club during the 2019 season as votes by fans and shined at the team’s awards gala ceremony held at the college of medicine on Friday.
Kayira guided well people’s team youngsters who were trusted by the technical panel led by Zimbabwe tactician Callisto Pasuwa and his hard word saw him called back to the national team and shined at the gala as he went home with two awards after being named the best midfielder of the season.
Goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda who won the 2019 Super League of Malawi (SULOM) best goalkeeper award made history as he won the best goalkeeper award for the 2019 season for the second consecutive year. Chiyenda played 28 games during the 2019 season and managed to keep 21 clean sheets which helped the people’s team to win the league.
In other categories, Precious Sambani was voted as the best defender for the season outshining Charles Petro who was named best defender of the season at the Sulom awards as well as striker Hassan Kajoke scooping the best striker award having finished as the team’s top goal scorer with 17 goals.
The Callisto Pasuwa led technical panel received the chairman’s award after guiding the team to win it’s 15th league title and managed to defend it with a squad full of youngsters such as Peter Banda who was named as the player of the year at the Sulom awards but failed to win any at club level.
