FAM announced that the new season which was suspended in March 2020 because of the spread of coronavirus. The season will kick off in August and FAM has started meeting with the Ministry of sports youth and culture, Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) and the ministry of health to present how things will be done when football resume.
But supporters of different clubs have tabled their demands at FAM for the season to kick off earlier than August which according to SULOM general secretary a lot needs to be sorted out before the season kick off.
“We need to understand the plan being set by FAM and see how it will let the game resume in August and get the positives from it as there are a lot of things that need to be put back in place. Clubs and fans need to be educated on how the roadmap will be implemented which can not happen overnight.
“We are also lucky here at home as by the time we will kick off the league in August our friends in other countries might have already resumed playing football and we can learn from them how they are doing things to play the sport and prevent coronavirus at the same time”, said Banda.
