Red Lions Football Club coach Nelson Chirwa has applauded his players for a spirited performance as they have started life in the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA)  Thumbs Up League.

The team was relegated from the TNM Super League last year and since the start of the SRFA League three weeks ago, the team has managed a 100 percent record as it has won all 3 games played.

Speaking in an interview coach Nelson Chirwa said so far so good but the players still need to work hard for the team to earn promotion back to the elite league.

“As Red Lions Football Club we accepted that mistakes were made in the TNM Super League last year that lead to us relegated and upon the start of the SRFA League we talked with the players that let’s accept we are playing in the lower and fight for ourselves to earn promotion back to Super League.

“So far so good as we have managed to win all our three games but we still need to work hard as a team for it’s still a long way to go “, said Chirwa.

Chirwa further said despite the departure of captain Chikoti Chirwa who has joined their brothers in arms side Moyale Barracks Football Club to play in Super League,  the remaining players should be able to do the job.

“Chikoti Chirwa was an important player for the team and him being a national team player we feel happy we managed to produce a player of his caliber and that he will be playing for Moyale Barracks , we will miss his services but the remaining players should equally do a good job on the ground to see the team back in the Super League next season “, Chirwa said.
