Newly appointed Malawi under 20 national football team coach Patrick Mabedi says he will work hard to produce good players that can play in the European leagues.
Mabedi was successful for the position during the interviews in February this year and has been given a one year contract which according to the former Kaizer Chiefs football club assistant coach will be used to expose Malawi talent.
“I believe I have learnt a lot during my stay in South Africa and having attended a number of coaching courses in Europe, I have a lot of things that the young crop of players will learn from me.
“With football being dynamic these days, we need to put in more efforts and this will need us to work hand in hand with all involved stakeholders including government so that we should produce good quality players that will not be exported to South Africa only but will also manage to stand the heat of European leagues. If we will do that, I will be a happy person,” he said.
During his coaching career, the former Kaizer Chiefs football club captain has also been in charge of Moloka Swallows in South Africa as well as being the Malawi national football team assistant coach.
