Manchester City score 5 passes Newcastle, while Liverpool & Sheffield pocket maximum points

Manchester City returned to winning ways in the English Premier League (EPL) on Wednesday when they humiliated Newcastle united by a 5-0 goal margin in a match played at the Etihad stadium.

Fresh from their 1-0 loss in the hands of Southampton, Manchester City made no mistake in the 10th minute when Gabriel Jesus opened the scores before Algerian Riyad Mahrez gave the home side a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time.

In the second half, Fenandezfrom Newcastle scored in their own net before David Silva and Raheem Sterling made it 5 for the citizens who are 2nd on the log table with 69 points. The loss has reduced Newcastle’s hopes for a top half-finished as they have dropped to 13th position with 42 points.

The already 2019/20 EPL champions, Liverpool won their 30th EPL match this season when they defeated Brighton 3-1 at Anfield. The Egyptian Muhammad Salah opened the scoring for the reds when he received a pass from Guinea international Naby Keita before Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson made it 2-0 within the first 10 minutes of the game. A minute before the break, Brighton pulled one back through Trossard to give themselves hope of a possible come back.

In the second half, Salah headed home a corner kick to score his second of the day and his 19th goal of the season for the red who has the crown already in their bag and have 92 points.

At the Bramall Lane, a late goal from Egan was enough for Sheffield United to pocket maximum points against Wolves and keep their hopes alive for European competition next year. Egan scored in added time for Sheffield to move to 7th position with 51 points, with a point separating them with Wolves who lie on 6th position.

In another match, West Ham United lost 1-0 at home to Burnley thanks to a Rodriguez first-half strike which has moved Burnley to position 9 in the standing with 49 points while the hammers remain on position 16 with 31 points.
