Malawi Schools Sports Association (MASSA) president Blackson Malamula says the association has been heavily affected by COVID-19 which has affected all the plans they had for the year 2019.
According to Malamula MASSA was supposed to have a tournament in August sponsored by cool Fiz but with schools closed and with the coronavirus pandemic it is obvious that it will not be possible to have been played at the planned time.
“We expected to have our tournament in August but all this has failed due to coronavirus. Once the government gives green light for schools to open then we will sit down to see how we will revise our planned calendar so that it accommodates our sports activities mostly during holidays,” said Malamula.
MASSA has conducted a number of competitions including the coca-cola trophy in schools which has produced a number of great players including former Malawi national football team midfielder Robert Ng’ambi.
