Football Association of Malawi (FAM) commercial and Marketing Director Limbani Matola has been appointed as the marketing venue manager for the FIFA under 20 World Cup to be staged in Poland from 23rd May to 15th June 2019.
Matola who has been appointed over 10 other applicants from different countries has been assigned to implement FIFA commercial affiliates rights and act as a point of contact for the local organising committee and FIFA for all marketing related issues at the venues.
Commenting for his appointment, Matola said he is very delighted that his application was successful and honoured God for his achievements.
“This is a very humbling experience. I thank God that my application and motivation letter pleased FIFA“, said Matola.
Matola further said that his appointment is an indication the the world is recognizing efforts that Malawi through FAM is doing and that it will boost the image of the country’s FA.
“This is a proof that the continuous efforts we are executing to market and improve the game at local level are being noticed at international level.”This is a great motivation for us to do more . I believe that being trusted to add value to the game at such a global level is not a mean achievement and I will make sure that I apply the high level experience that i will gain there to our local football that will make our football not to be the same “, Matola said.
This is the first time that a Malawian has been assigned administrative duties at a FIFA World Cup.
