The former five-division world champion’s, Mayweather has offered to cover George Floyd’s funeral costs.
Mayweather confirmed this on Twitter, as several local media reports reveal that the family of the deceased has accepted the offer. TMZ Sports tweeted a picture of a cheque from Mayweather to George Floyd’s funeral service for $88,500.
The death of the black American triggered protests across the United States cities. The Minneapolis ex-officer who kneeled on Floyd’s neck, Derek Chauvin was fired and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Mayweather also paid for the funerals of Genaro Hernandez, his former opponent, and the legendary Joe Frazier in 2011.
However, Floyd’s brother Terrence Floyd appeared at the intersection in South Minneapolis city and appealed for peace on Monday following the ongoing riots by the upset protesters.
