Minister asks players to be disciplined

Minister of Youth and Sports honourable Ulemu Msungama has asked the Malawi national football team players to instil discipline and work hard as they prepare for the crucial African cup of nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Burkina Faso later in November.

Msungama made the remarks on Thursday when he made a surprise visit to the football association of Malawi (FAM) base, Mpira village in Chiwembe Blantyre where the flames are doing their preparations.

“I have asked the team to work hard as we prepare for the match against Burkina Faso and I have asked them to be disciplined for them to excel in their football career,” he said.

The minister also said he was impressed with the preventive measures put in place by FAM against COVID-19 and has asked other associations to follow the example.

“I am impressed with the preventive measures which have been put in place here at the Mpira village and everyone here is following these measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 which is a good thing and all these other associations need to learn from FAM on how they are doing it,” he said.
