Mlatho Mponela secured a point as they managed a goalless draw against Nyasa Big Bullets in a TNM super league match on Saturday.
The defending champions went into the match wanting nothing short of a win but the Mponela based side stood their ground.
Bullets created a lot of scoring opportunities in the first half but Hassan Kajoke and Chiukepo Msowoya failed to turn them into goals.
In the second half, Mlatho Mponela kept frustration the 2015 Calsberg cup winners.
With time ticking on the clock, Both sides made changes but no goal was seen at the civo stadium.
Speaking after the game, team manager for Mlatho Mponela Blessings Makanjira was delighted with the result.
“It’s not a bad result getting a point against a big team like Bullets. They boys played according to our game plan. The point gained is vital as it will give the boys confidence that we can make it as we want to survive in the league”, he said.
Bullets assistant coach Peter Mponda said
” We wanted a win but all is not lost. We have more games coming and we should try to fight for ourselves to defend the league “.
Bullets are on position 2 with 43 points from 21 games while Mlatho Mponela is on position 14 with 18 points from 22 games.
