Mwase names Flames final squad for COSAFA

Flames interim coach Meke Mwase has named his 20 man final squad for the COSAFA tournament with five foreign based players , a duo of South Africa based Gabadinho Mhango and Gerald phiri jnr and the Mozambican trio of Chawanangwa Kaonga, Richard Mbulu and John Banda.

Nyasa Big Bullets football club has contributed a total of eight players with Peter Cholopi and Denis Chembezi who misses the flames 2020 CHAN second leg qualifier match against Eswatini due to injury, also to travel with the team for the two weeks tournament in Durban, South Africa from 25th May to 8th June.

Mwase who has trained with the team for only three days ahead of the tournament will travel with two goalkeepers, Brighton Munthali who was dropped in the second leg of the CHAN qualifiers on disciplinary reasons and Precious Sambani who has been out of action due to injury.

Captain John Lanjesi who has been an influential central defender of the team has been left out due to injury and John Banda will lead the team at the tournament.
The team will leave the country on Friday for South Africa via the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe and will start it’s campaign on Sunday against Seychelles before facing Namibia on Tuesday and Mozambique on Thursday.
