Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has appointed former Civil Service united coach Thom Nkolongo to lead the Malawi under 17 national women’s football team at this year’s women’s youth championship to take place in Mauritius from 17 to 26 April.
Nkolongo will be assisted by Scolastic Luhanga and Linda Kasenda with Levi Mhone as the fitness trainer. FAM has also appointed Chimwemwe Chitedze as goalkeeper trainer to be understudied by Logys Zidana. Violet Bunya and Yamikani Magombo are also part of the technical panel as team doctor and team manager respectively.
Meanwhile the Nkolongo lead technical panel will lead the junior scorchers at the cosafa youth championship who have been drawn in group A together with the host, Botswana and Eswatin.
The defending champions Zambia have been drawn in group B with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Comoros Islands.
In a related development, the FA has appointed McNerbert Kadzuwa as the head coach for the women’s national football team replacing Maggie Chombo Sadik who is now assistant coach together with Andrew Chikhosi. Chisomo Nkhoma has been appointed as the fitness trainer for the scorchers while Victor Mphande will be the goalkeeper trainer. Dr Elita Chiwoko and Clara Luhanga will also play their roles in the technical panel as team doctor and team manager respectively.
In a statement released by FAM, the technical personnel for the two teams, have been given a one year contract.
