Organisers of the prestigious individual football players award France football has announced that the 2019/20 season will go without giving out the Ballon d’Or award.
According to the organisers of the award which started in 1956, the decision has been made as the season had a number of challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic which made leagues in different countries to be suspended with some leagues like in France and in the Netherlands ending prematurely.
The organisers also said that it would be difficult to judge the performance of players in a season which started with other rules and will end with other rules.
Last year, Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won the award over Netherlands and Liverpool defender Vigil Van Dik and Portugal and Juventus striker Ronaldo
