Be Forward Wanderers football club might lose Ghanaian defender Elick Astigah as he landed an opportunity to undergo trials with a top league side in Kazakhstan.
Wandererer general secretary Victor Maunde has confirmed the former masters security player informed the club of the opportunity and risk having a shortfall of defenders in the coming season.
“Erick Astigah is back in the country from Ghana were he was on holiday and was supposed to start training last Friday as the team has re-grouped ahead of the coming season but failed to show up as he is working on his visa to undergo trials in Kazakhstan, which the team is aware of,” said maunde.
Maunde further said the departure of Astigah will leave the team short of numbers in defence since we released Harry Nyirenda and Lucky Malata but the club has already started looking for readily available replacements.
“His departure will leave the team short of defenders since we released Harry Nyirenda and decided not to extended the contract of Lucky Malata. We also sold Denis Chembezi to Polokwane city but we have already started looking for options to use in the next season in the likes of Peter Cholopi, Bongani Kayipa as well as Lughano Kayira who has joined the club from Mzuzu warriors having signed a three years deal,” he said.
