The Malawi Reserve bank sponsored side Silver Strikers are still paying two of their former technical panel members, Itaye Nundwe and Patrick Mangani who served as team manager and assistant coach respectively during the 2019 season at the club.
In January 2020, the central bankers replaced the technical panel that guided the team in 2019 with a new technical panel lead by Zambian coach Daniel Kabwe. Macdonald Yobe and Macdonald Mtetemera were employed as assistant coaches with the clubs former captain Peter Mg’angira roped in as team manager.
Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Chimbali has confirmed of the two still being paid by the club despite being replaced months ago but has said the two might be assigned other club duties soon.
“It is true we are still paying Mangani and Nundwe salaries as they still have running contracts with the club until next year despite being replaced and we cannot stop paying them as it will be in breach of contract. However we just need to assign the two with other duties within the club,” said Chimbali.
Itaye Nundwe was replaced by Peter Mg’angira as team manager with Yobe and Mtetemera deputising head coach Daniel Kabwe as part of the commercialization drive the club is undergoing.
