1957 (Malawi) – Independence from Britain Tanzania

2005 (DRC) – An international human rights group said militiamen and renegade soldier have raped and beaten tens of thousands of woman and young girls in eastern Congo, and nearly all the crimes have gone unpublished by the country s broken judicial system.
