Malawi national football team midfielder Gerald Phiri junior and striker Richard Mbulu can breath a sigh of relief after surviving the chop at their South African ABSA Premier Soccer League (PSL).
In a statement released by the Limpopo based club, Gerald Phiri jnr who is described as a dead ball specialist and has played in South Africa since 2015 for Bidvest Wits, Patinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town football teams and Mbulu who joined the club in 2019 from a Mozambican club Costa do Sol can not be released as they have a bright future and are still in the plans of the club.
The two flames players have survived the axe which has shown the exit of six players at the club including Tebogo Sodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Mongau Khwinana and Kamogelo Mogaswa.
Gerald Phiri junior who is a former Wanderers player joined the club in 2019 from Ajax Cape Town and has scored a number of goals for the club in the league this season while Mbulu who formerly played for MAFCO FC, signed a three years contract with the club and has played 20 games but is yet to score a goal for the club.
Baroka FC is currently on 13th position with 23 points from 24 games on the 2019/20 PSL season which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
