Silver Strikers football club players can afford a smile as they will share 50 percent of the prize money they won on Saturday after defeating Karonga United in the finals of the Airtel top 8 cup.
The clubs general Secretary Lawrence Yobe has confirmed that the players will share k8 million as the central bankers have k16 million in their account for being champions.
“Its a tradition at our club that the players get 50 percent share of the money that has been won and this time they have k8 million for themselves to share after they worked hard to win the Airtel cup and gives us a good start to the 2019 campaign”, he said.
Yobe further said that the club is planning to palade the trophy in the city of Lilongwe and give the players a luncheon with the sponsors.
” We are planning to organise a luncheon for our players and the governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi who are our sponsors as a way to motivate the boys to work hard in the remaining competitions as our target is to win at least two trophies this season .
“We will also parade the trophy within the city of Lilongwe in the coming days to give our fans a chance to see it for themselves”, Yobe said.
Silver Strikes football club defeated Karonga United 1-0 on Saturday in the finals of the Airtel top 8 cup to make history for winning the cup twice in three years having also won it in 2017.
